I don't believe Amtrak has a solid case to go to less than daily service, particularly when also weighing in the fact that it was announced this morning that current COVID cases may be peaking in the East. I think we are in this for another couple of years and somehow adjustments need to come forth to help get us through this new norm.

And what about the poor individuals who were already in route to their cruise only to find out it was canceled while they were in flight. Who's going to re-reimburse them for that? If this is true hopefully it's only temporary. Most are predicting this current wave is expected to drop significantly by the end of the month. That said, it's probably better to know in advance your train isn't going to run than to be forced into last minute changes to plans.

We are in the aftermath of Christmas and New Year's so things are perhaps going to flatten out. But are we to believe that Omnicron is going to be as bad as it was in the East as it will be in the Dakotas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Middle America etc.? Is an Amtrak T&E crew base at Shelby, MT going to to be perhaps as debilitated as Denver, CO or Washington, DC. LOTS of factors going into such a response/answer there!
