The stretch of the SW Chief between Kansas City and La Plata is a very long stretch without a stop. Carrollton Station wouldn't just serve people wanting to go to Carrollton but other towns too within about an hour drive east of KCY. Even certain towns served by the Missouri River Runner like Warrensburg would benefit from a station in Carrollton on the SW Chief.

Agent said: if I had at least three people, he would stop it. I had my three passengers. Two of us went to Chillicothe and one person to Chicago. NICE trip. We sat in the Great Dome and enjoyed ATSF operation. Fare was about $8.00 to Chillicothe for me. Four hours and ten minutes later, we came down the hill into Chillicothe.
Since I was attending high school in Concordia, MO (25 miles south of Carrollton), this trip was repeated several times per year. The agent was a kind friendly man. The trips made me into a railroad employee later in life. I believe the Carrollton station was torn down a a years ago? The Carrollton station is still there.. Whether or not BNSF would allow Amtrak to use it would be a different story.
