Pacific Sands/Tioga Pass in Seattle Author: Jim700 The Pacific Sands and Tioga Pass looked great on the rear end of #14 yesterday as they passed through Canby at 3:06 PM. I was wondering why they were moving at such a reduced speed. The Union Pacific had the town's three main crossings tied up as usual by their now usually daytime interchanging of traffic with the Oregon Pacific, but they were in the clear. It takes the trainman quite a while to check the pick-up or secure the set-out. I heard several hours later that, as #11 was passing through town earlier, a trespasser had climbed between two of the cars that the UP had hold of and jumped out on the downtown side of the tracks right in front of #11 without looking or hearing, due to ear buds blocking surrounding sound. That person will not have the opportunity to make the same foolish mistake again.

He said 503 had no clue what happened until the UP local called them. They tied the train down and were relieved at Hito and 503 ended up being five hours late by his place at Shedd.
