Amtrak alerted police. Police discovered a handgun a backpack, prior to removing the Yuma-bound passenger. The gun was later identified as having been stolen in Kentucky.

That also includes two air rifles. You don't receive a firearm two weeks ago and not remember where you got it unless you deal in a hundred firearms a week.

But this way he gets free meals.

Based on what is reported in the news story, it sounds like Maricopa PD exercised a lot of restraint, especially considering what happened in Tucson last year.
