Passenger Trains > Amtrak #5 ~ 9.5 hrs Late, Makes rare, Daylight AppearanceDate: 06/16/22 03:20 Amtrak #5 ~ 9.5 hrs Late, Makes rare, Daylight Appearance Author: OmahaTom Usually the westbound Zephyr climbs the side hill on its way west out of Omaha and passed Martha St here around midnight, on its way to The Rockies and Denver around Sunrise, but yesterday, June 15th, it rolled west out of Omaha at 9:45 am. Anybody know what the hold up was all about yesterday? I know it sat at the Omaha platform for several hours before finally departing.

Sometimes it's easily fixed: I was on a run of the Lake Shore from Chicago some 35 years ago when a call went out from the diner that they had no water. Catastrophe was averted when it was discovered that whoever had last refilled the tank had left the valve handle in the wrong position. But really! |
