Passenger Trains > It's train time down at the depot

A nice "crowd" greeted the arrival of the northbound Silver Star in Southern Pines NC at 0807 this morning, Tuesday June 21, 2022.  Train was only an hour and a 15 minutes off advertised, the best it has performed in quite some time.  Unfortunately she lost all that time just down the road in Hamlet, as she arrived essentially on time this morning just to experience an extended 1 hour 11 minute dwell time (no idea as to why).  Here we see 92 arriving at the station, spotting the coaches at the well maintained depot and platform - next we see train move forward several car lengths to spot the sleepers at the platform - and finally we see the train departing,  Total dwell time with the double stop was 7 minutes. 

In the still photo we capture a timeless classic as two young railfans (and aspiring firemen) watch the excitement in small town America.
