Passenger Trains > Amtrak 5 just ran Truckee stopDate: 06/21/22 14:08 Amtrak 5 just ran Truckee stop Author: Copy19 Amtrak 5 just ran thru Truckee without making its normal stop. The train wasn't even on the track closest to the station. No skiers today? :-)

Date: 06/21/22 21:20 Re: Amtrak 5 just ran Truckee stop Author: TopCat No, 5/6 can't just "highball" Truckee. Due to the "CF" that was going on between RV205 and RV208 (West and East Truckee) with a dead grain train and trains between Floriston and Truckee they had to do their station work on Main-1 (prior to the this video) and then shuffle back to East Truckee, cross over to Main-2 and then proceed west. We crossed over to Main-1 at West Truckee and then proceeded to follow the grain train to Reno. Met a westbound near Boca Dam.
There are (currently) no flag stops for the Zephyr with the exception of discharge only stations at Davis, Martinez, Richmond (#5) and Burlington, Galesburg and Princeton (#6). T.C. Date: 06/21/22 21:26 Re: Amtrak 5 just ran Truckee stop Author: dan I have seen them not stop at Granby
looking into why #5 is showing service disruption now Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/21/22 21:27 by dan. Date: 06/22/22 10:21 Re: Amtrak 5 just ran Truckee stop Author: BRAtkinson It's not the first time that the dispatcher put a train on the wrong track.
Several years ago, the dispatcher that covers North Philadelphia put an Amtrak train on the former PRR SEPTA commuter-only route, as I recall. And a couple of months ago, I was on train #148 that was put on track 2 instead of the platform track 4 at Bridgeport. The engineer realized it soon enough to come to a stop 1 track away from the platform, radioed the dispatcher who then lined us up for a reverse move, we did that, then stopped at the platform as intended. "To err is human. To really foul things up requires a computer." (I saw a sign with that on it 40+ years ago) Date: 06/22/22 10:33 Re: Amtrak 5 just ran Truckee stop Author: dan the other track was full of problems was not an error

(I saw a sign with that on > it 40+ years ago) Thing is these 'experts' are claiming computers can do better, I still say relying them 100% is a recipe for disaster! |
