I seen to recall that back in I belive 1980 Amtrak purcased a college in Ill. or Indiana. Can anyone shed some light on this ? Thanks Tom

A new one on me!

Closest I know to this would be the conversion of two ex-USArmy Hospital cars to "technical training cars". They would "make rounds" of the system and provide technical training, be it initial training for mechanical dept hires or "continuing ed".

Yhe cars were officially dubbed "Amtechs".

No I did not think Amtrak would have its own college, but many state and community colleges offer railroad operation training courses for freight and passenger service.

Doesn\'t Amtrak have a training school in Wilmington, Delaware?
