Passenger Trains > ATK 11 almost 11 hours late arriving in Emeryville

Thanks to earlier TO reports about the southbound Coast Starlight being delayed because of a washout in Northern California, I checked and saw that 11 was going to arrive in Emeryville almost 11 hours late. So it was off to the station for a very different shot of the Coast Starlight. Just about 7pm I heard horns and saw not one but two sets of headlights. Fortunately the BNSF container train held back allowing me to get my shots of the Starlight from the west side of the pedestrian bridge. And an added bonus was my first shot of ATK 203 the Operation Life Saver unit

Well, yes, understood, but have you noticed what's going on in US aëronautics, recently?

True, in the old days, there would be enough equipment lying around (not to mention enough crew) to cobble together some sort of consist to maintain the schedule, in cases like this. But that wouldn't help in the situation I faced a couple of years ago, trying to get from the Midwest back to Portland, and had not one but two runs of the Builder canceled more or less out from under me, because of avalanches.

Not just the US aeronautics either, it's worldwide.

Sure, but odds are if your flight us canceled they will get you there same day, just on a different flight.

Maybe, if there's another flight that day, that doesn't get cancelled...

My flight home from Dallas was late a few weeks ago, but if it had been cancelled, I would have gotten home the next day since it was the last flight of the day.
