Amtrak(vague)Alerts cites "mechanical issues". I know 393 last night had a P42 on account of not enough working SC44 State Chargers available.

These are not mechanical issues, but these are management issues.  The management does not know how to maintain equipment.  They do not have the patterns, the committed trained workforce, the expectation of perfection.  It will take a focused 18 months to turn Chicago or any other place around.  And a managment team that will not take sloppy work; poor supplies of parts; a pattern of diligent maintenance; eight hours of concentrated work by valued employees.
