Trains 5 and 3 of the 19th

Both trains are running without Sightseer Lounges today. Doesn't look like there are diner lounges or 35000 series snack coaches either.

Side note - Charter Club & St. James Place are on the rear of train 5.

I guess the coach passengers need to have a food delivery app?

It's unbelievable to me how low Amtrak has sunk. For those of us who remember the late 80s and into the mid 90s, and how the trains were seemingly doing so well, this is just down right embarrassing.

One would think(hope) that they would have made the coach side of the diner the snack bar.  But this bears watching just to see if the lost SSL on both trains is an innovation on part of Amtrak's management to aid with recuperation from the hardships of the pandemic or if it is just an isolated SNAFU.

Let them eat cake!

The only way I will travel on Amtrak is in a private car.

At Fort Madison, they loaded a half dozen or so trays of individually packed items onto the diner.  "Boxed" meals?  That seems odd considering it wasn't that long and far from the origin.  Was the diner not fully functional?

Amtrak EXTRA-Redux. Pathetic.

Either operate the system with good service, or just kill it off it.

Problems continue to plague Train 5 of the 19th. It was involved in some type of ‘vehicle’ incident east of McCook, NE. It arrived McCook 3:19 late and appears to be holding there an additional 4 hours,

The delay should provide plenty of time for the coach passengers to find breakfast and/or alternate transportation.  There are several places near the depot, unfortunately it looks like they are some distance west of the station.  I'm sure Amtrak will provide for them.  (insert sarcasm in this space ___________________________).  ):

One doesn't even warrant a baggage car.
