Of course - the 5'-6" gauge might be a problem for most museums. Perhaps Oracle Park could work one into their outfield display. Rich Date: 09/20/22 10:44 Re: article: how clever mechanics keep 50 yr old bart trains runn Author: joemvcnj Could they be retrucked at standard gauge ?

Date: 09/20/22 11:47 Re: article: how clever mechanics keep 50 yr old bart trains runn Author: DevalDragon BART does offer old cars for donation to qualified organizations.
So if there is a museum that wants one and has the means to feed and care for it, that can happen. Date: 09/20/22 15:09 Re: article: how clever mechanics keep 50 yr old bart trains runn Author: wpdude Oracle park could put one in the outfield, like Minutemaid steam engine in Houston. Then every time the Giants hit a home run it could go back and forth making that horrible high pitch screeching sound :-)

TAW Date: 09/20/22 16:15 Re: article: how clever mechanics keep 50 yr old bart trains runn Author: schaffner The Western Railway Museum is getting some cars and will be building a new rapid transit history center. They will be on static display. Besides the track gauge, there's also the issue with the BART cars using third rail and WRM only having overhead wire also BART uses 1000 VDC and WRM has 600 VDC.
