Anyone who sees Lake Shore 49 tomorrow

Reported 98 axles (usually has 52) by the detector at Herkimer, NY.
Wonder what the additional cars were?

This is curious - it would imply 46 more axles. But that is not a number divisible by 4 so something has 2 more axles.  PVs?

Just saw it on the Fairport cam - yes, PVs on the rear, including one heavyweight car, hence 6 axles.

Do some or all of the 8 PV's pay for the 3rd engine ?

And the three locomotives pulling 49 are interesting: AMTK 100 "Midnight Blue" with Amtrak 105 and AMTK 130 "Phase II" Trailing

Per Railrat.net, Amtrak 49 is anticipated to arrive in front of the Elkhart live cam in daylight just before 0900 Friday 9/23/22.

Probably at least some of the private cars are returning from the Chicago AAPRCO convention.

Well, this morning 29 is struggling with equipment issues at Kendallville, IN - almost dead in the water.  49 has caught up to it, run around it, and now 29 is inching along to couple to  it.  It will then be one VERY big train.  Worth watching for at Elkhart.

Arrived at Elkhart IN at 11:15am EST, both trains combined, made two separate station stops. Per the VR cameras

3 stops - 49 coaches and Boston Sleeper; 49 NY sleepers; 29 all.

Totel 24 cars, 5 units

Amtrak has adopted PSR! ;-)

The combined Amtrak 49 plus 29 land barge arriving Elkhart at around 1115 Friday 9/23/22. Amtrak 29's two P42s were tied onto the last PV in the Amtrak 49 consist.

It looks/sounds like Amtrak 29's 2nd P42 #85 is shoving but I'm not sure #55 is helping out - I'm guessing 29's engineer is coordinating with 49's engineer?

And they're off to Chicago with only 12 minute dwell for three stops - not bad!.

This train was heading toward Chicago. The private cars were on an AAPRCO tour of Vermont.

So how many varnish owners would be happy to see a two engine five car superliner set being pulled by their cars?

Question was asked how many private car owners would like two engines + superliners coupled to their cars. AAPRCO trains in the past have had 30 PVs so this would not be all that concerning.
