Passenger Trains > Empire West shut down

Based upon a blizzard forecast for Buffalo, NY, Empire train 281 terminated at Albany-Rensselaer, 283 at Syracuse LAKE SHORE LIMITED 49
was canceled in entirety.  I could not find any mention of the 49 cancelation on Amtrak Twitter.  MAPLE LEAF 64 originated in Toronto and is
running close to on time.

Oh how times have changed,along with the country,,,,,,

OK - all the lamenting of how it used to be ... I remember being on #27 - the New England States - in the 1960s.  Left Utica on time and in clear winter weather with no precipitation. Went to sleep expecting to be almost to Chicago when I awoke. Alas, I was sitting Buffalo in storm similar to today's when morning came.  Long stop in Erie to get water for the heating boilers from fire tanker trucks.  Arrived Chicago over 24 hours late, with many stops dangerous for anyone to detrain, and most who did being stuck in stations for hours and hours.  So, based on how things were "back then," I think Amtrak made a proper call on this.

How did the New York Central manage such a situation without dealing with hundreds of angry passengers Tweeting and calling relatives and snapping cellphone photos and.... oh, wait.

And back then, the "host" railroad ran the passenger trains, too, so at least there were local employees scattered along the way who could provide some support. That's Amtrak's biggest problem -- it has NO resources in places like Erie or Sandusky and very little even in the bigger cities like Cleveland (no protect engines, for starters).
