The Baggage Car is Back, Baby!
Author: RuleG

The baggage car has returned to the Pennsylvanian.  It was on today's #43.

It was also interesting to note that today's #43 had seven cars in addition to the baggage car and today's #42 which did not have a baggage car, also had seven cars.

It has been getting that extra coach around the holidays for some years. Must be in the state contract.

I wonder if the Palmetto gets it too. Sometimes they swap equipment in Sunnyside overnight.

All trains that usually have baggage cars should still have them, Ammanagment's stupidity is still showing their ugly head, especially on the LD Trains!

The Thanksgiving travel bulge is now broader than next week so beefed up trains should begin yesterday

So we celebrate the baggage car.  How many passengers actually use it?   Almost all the stops are unstaffed.  How does one access the baggage car with 2 big honkin suitcases on the platform?

That's Penn DOT's decision. They paid to operate the car. The busiest stations along the way are staffed (Philadelphia, Lancaster, Harrisburg, Altoona, Johnstown, Pittsburgh).
