Red noses on the Amtrak Star

Amtrak train 81, the S/B Silver Star, is running just over forty minutes late as it rolls around the big curve at the south end of Collier Yard. Next scheduled stop is Raleigh, NC, however, the train will make a stop in between at Henderson to receive or discharge passengers if sufficient advance notice is given to the agent or conductor. SDP40F-638 is in the lead. 5:15PM on 10-20-79 in Petersburg, VA.

Amtrak started out so strong with trying to capture the Florida market (from the Northeast AND the Midwest). With just two trains traversing the state today, a far cry from what was.......

Florence, SC based passenger train crews worked to and from Richmond, VA  Richmond engine crews wotkrf to and from Rocky Mount, NC.

True for trains on the ex-ACL, but this train ran on the ex-SAL and did not serve Rocky Mount or Florence.
