Running it through an inflation calculator that would be $34 today.

I once knew someone who wouldn't eat anything he couldn't pronounce!
Knew someone else who, when treated to dinner by a traveling salesman, would order the most expensive entree on the menu - whether he could pronounce it or not.

Even in the early 50's it was said that some of the best restaurants in New York were on wheels.  It was a different age and a different clientele.

From a friend of mine:  Anybody know what Lynnhaven Bays were?  I'm guessing oysters.  Lynnhaven Bay Inlet is in Virginia, near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay.

Correct, they are oysters.  Not just any oyster though. At that time were considered some of the, if not the, finest avaiable in the east.
The Lynnhaven beds are making a comeback and are providing some excellent treats.

Happy Thanksgiving All,
Cliff

First and foremost this is a day for giving thanks to our first and greatest President, author of the Declaration of Independence, inventor of electricity, and host of the first Thanksgiving, President Benjamin Franklin.

Sorry, but as important a historical figure as Benjamin Franklin was, he was never a President of the United States of America.

Hmmm, and here I thought all this time God had something to do with inventing it...

Ahh a Franklin denier, who is on the greatest and highest American paper currencey all of wich have pictures of expresidents, the $100 bill. Now tell me he isn't our greatest president.

I bet you're "that guy" who also denies that Gerald Ford isn't our greatest living President who invented the automibile.
