We Don't Need No Stinkin' Matching Locomotives
Author: walstib

Rain was falling pretty hard along Seattle's Alsakan Way yesterday, when train 7 came rolling in to town, nearly 2 hours late, with a pair of chargers that don't match.

AMTK 305, sporting the original paint scheme, was on the point, while AMTK 310, displaying the current paint scheme, was trailing.

I think this is the first time I've seen two chargers running back-to-back.

I still want to see how Amtrak could paint the Superliners to match the paint scheme on these ALCs.

It almost looks like those engines have a "flat wheel profile".

Can someone explain to me what the heck Amtrak is thinking with all these mismatched paint schemes on everything?

I believe he’s asking more about the different schemes on AMTK 305 vs. AMTK 310. Not the special units like AMTK 301.

Since when does Amtrak think? And with all their issues ,having miss matched paint schemes is about the least of their problems.!

So this means that Phase VI is all of what, less than 10 Chargers total? Plus the one P42. Seems like a lot of effort (and some money) to design and paint another scheme shortly after the first for the Chargers.
