Penn Central lives!!!

To be fair, by comparison, Penn Central was a well managed business compared to Amtrak

Amtrak isn't a business. It's an essential service.

Penn Central was "paint it, don't fix it". Amtrak seldom even paints.

Amtrak isn't even that.  It has become a social welfare program, more than a transportation entity.

Essential services are electricity, heat, clean water. With rare exception they operate 24/7,
rain, sleet or snow.

At one time the above applied to passenger trains.  The mail had to go through.

Amtrak is non-essential adventure travel.

Someone is having some fun. The AMTK 123 is wearing the Conrail can opener on its nose. At least as of late September.

Waiting for the legacy Lionel Lines logo to appear.

I'd add, related to electricity, the "intertubes" because without that electronic infrastructure heat and water and electricity won't get to us.  And no on-line shopping.

I don't know if I agree or not but there is an argument to be made that even in the NEC Amtrak is a form of corporate welfare which also provides excellent bonuses for senior management.  (Notice how I weaseled out of taking a firm position here?)

I would get more of a kick out of PC mating worm on a dirty passenger car window.

Looks like it might be a leftover logo from the first Metroliners.
