Brings back memories for me.  In the early 1970s I went to school at UC Davis Mon-Wed, rode Amtrak to Truckee and worked there Thursday-Sunday, returned back to Davis on Sunday to begin a new week.  The nice part was that those were the days when the conductor did not care if you opened the top half of the Dutch doors.  I mostly rode watching the scenery out the door except when it was too cold.
