I suspect the lead unit - #192 - was the culprit. It appeared to be putting out no exhaust - no black smoke, no heat signature.  2nd unit - #75 - looked to be running normally.
the BNSF unit tied on at 08:00, and they departed at 8:47.

Only a 47 minute delay, and it took Amtrak 4 HOURS to get the Empire Builder out of Chicago (a major hub) in switching out locomotives???

Since 2010 - I've been through at least five terminal related locomotive change outs (LA, Chicago, Seattle), four Superliner car setouts enroute (Minot, Twin Cities, two middle of nowhere's), private car set outs, and even VIA locomotive setouts (in between Sioux Lookout and Winnipeg). The most efficient happened on VIA, Minot, and Seattle. Try again........
