IE, it is NOT a uniquely US issue.
Date: 01/27/23 16:31 Re: article/twin cities significant increase in crime on trains/b Author: goneon66 the article lists the percentage increase in narcotics offenses.
i think that would be a tough problem to control without significantly increasing law enforcement's presence on both the trains and at stations in this day and age.......... 66 Date: 01/27/23 16:50 Re: article/twin cities significant increase in crime on trains/b Author: wa4umr You could write this story and change a few numbers and names and insert the name of any major city with a large transit system. It all happened with Covid, the riots of 2020, Defund The Police, and a few other things. Every major police force is undermanned these days and that includes transit police. It's only going to get worse with the no-cash bail policies. Often the criminals are back on the streets in an hour or two. Virtually every one of the perpetrators is a repeat performer. It's not just transit crimes, random acts of violence are on the news just about every evening. Smash and grabs, carjackings, and random property destruction is everywhere. I live in Louisville, Ky., not a hotbed of gangs but on New Year's Eve, two gangs had a shootout. Police found about 600 shell casings. They must have been pretty bad shots because no one was injured.
John Date: 01/27/23 21:20 Re: article/twin cities significant increase in crime on trains/b Author: BrynMawr And FWIW the NYT says crime on the Subway has fallen given greater police presence according to Hochul and Adams.

to avoid the traffic congestion and parking issues. Not now...... guess I will forego any future events in downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul. SAD! SR2 Date: 01/28/23 08:11 Re: article/twin cities significant increase in crime on trains/b Author: PHall wa4umr Wrote:

I was shocked when I saw that Metro Toronto has major street racing and sideshow problems. I thought TO was the green's dream city with everyone riding bicycles and transit ! |
