Passenger Trains > P32 on Today's Hiawatha Service Train Set

One of the two train sets providing Hiawatha corridor service between Milwaukee and Chicago has P32 519 (built 1991) providing the power on the south end.  The photos shows this morning's Train 332 rolling past the site of the old Milwaukee Road passenger station at Sturtevant (replacement building now used by CP Engineering Dept.).

Charger must have crapped out, otherwise they would be operating in push mode from the Cabbage.

519 collapsed and they got 500 out to replace

Sheesh. Yes, it's winter. It's occurred every year since Amtrak's inception in 1971. And even the replacement units fail. And they're not even Siemens Chargers. No wonder reliability is such a crap shoot.

The cabbages crap out from time to time too.

How many Horizons were used in the Hiawatha consist pre-Pandemic - say in the Boardman years when there were also more Hiawatha frequencies. Just curious. 

I remember six coaches in all per consist, though I believe a 7th car was finally added to one consist due to overcrowding on at least one of the runs..

That sounds right..... They added more frequencies in the early 2000's or so and then still had to put an additional car or so on each train set to meet demand. Heavy commuter line (or at least passholders) at one time.
