January #6 in Eastern Nebraska
Author: twjurgens

Amtrak's #6 had its share of woes from weather to mechanical issues in January.  Bad for Amtrak but good for us fans in eastern Nebraska since the usually nocturnal visitor made several daylight appearances.

On January 10, the Operation Life Saver engine (assisted by 27) made what may have been the first of several appearances on the eastbound Zephyr.  This shot is about a mile and a half east of Waverly.

On the 12th, 161 made an appearance assisted by 180,  The photo is of the train approaching 98th Street, just east of Lincoln.

78 and 27 were dashing through a dusting of snow at 44th Street in Lincoln.

Those are all great, I do enjoy trains kicking up snow as in #3.  It was fun to get some Zephyrs in the daylight here in Utah, glad you got some good shots in Nebraska as well.
