Passenger Trains > A Clean Silver Star ???Date: 03/30/23 12:02 A Clean Silver Star ??? Author: scraphauler Just the run of the mill Silver Star - Amtrak 92 is seen crossing Yadkin Road on north-side of Southern Pine NC on it's trek to Raleigh and points north, at 0850 on 3/30/23, about an hour and forty five off advertised. Do my eyes deceive me, or is this a somewhat clean looking train set? Yes, power needs a bath, but the cars look a lot cleaner than most of the train sets on the Star.

She got a new Viewliner roomette and said everything worked well. Her only complaint was rough track. Can't have everything. Ross Rowland

Rough track would render even the famed 20th Century Ltd., or the all-Pullman Super Chief, not worth riding. - However, can't blame Amtrak in this case. A lot of that is jointed rail, especially south of Hamlet. At least it was in 2019. Not much traffic on it. Date: 03/30/23 18:39 Re: A Clean Silver Star ??? I saw the train at Fort Lauderdale station in both directions several times between Thanksgiving and about a month ago, and every time it was disgustingly filthy on the outside, excepting for maybe a car or two that apparently had recently come from a maintenance facility and been properly cleaned. Sometimes the coaches were so dirty you couldn’t even see inside the windows after dark during the stop. Some of the filthiest Amtrak trains I’ve ever laid eyes on. I certainly hope they have started washing it at one end or the other. Posted from iPhone Date: 03/30/23 18:53 Re: A Clean Silver Star ??? Author: alan2955 scraphauler Wrote:

Yes, the train in that video looks properly cleaned, which I never witnessed all winter the numerous times I saw the train at Fort Lauderdale. Certainly makes a big difference in the image plus people actually can see out the windows. Posted from iPhone Date: 03/30/23 20:16 Re: A Clean Silver Star ??? Author: scraphauler Jimbo Wrote:

And that portion of the line normally only sees Amtrak each way, L645 northbound and L647 southbound. |
