Passenger Trains > Texas eagle

Has a sightseer lounge car and a dining car been put back on the train ?  Am flying to Tucson with family and would rather come back by train.  Two years ago I took #1 to LA and then #4 back to Chicago looking to do something different this time

No changes for the Texas Eagle.  4 cars St.Louis to San Antonio   One sleeper that houses on-board staff and passengers.  One coach and one coach baggage car.  One additional coach operates Chicago-St. Louis. TV diners served in part of the dining car area, while the rest of the area is the crew lounge.  4 tables on short side, counter side of diner, are used for food consumption only so that coach passengers can buy frozen sandwiches, food and snacks.  They are asked to leave when active eating is finished.  No leisure/lounge space/car is provided.  A very confining train.

"A very confining train" with prison food.  What a sad pathetic joke.  Amtrak has calclulated that the senators and representatives from TX, AK and MO will not say anything about this disgusting train.  

I am still Boycotting the Texas Eagle until proper dining is restored.
5 microwave meals on that route is disgusting.

There are no plans to restore either traditional dining or a Sightseer Lounge to the Eagle. Sadly this is how this train will stay until the new equipment is ordered and delivered in the next 10-15 years. . Excuse given now is they don't have enough equipment (instead of previous excuse of we don't have enough OBS staff). A further note they have mothballed and stored 15 Superliner Transition Sleeper/Dorms that they do not plan to restore to service.

Sad state of affairs for 21 and 22, and when the lounge was announced to get taken off man talk about all Hell breakin' loose, until they get proper leadership in DC to really make things better, Amtrak today'll still be crappy!
