Passenger Trains > Coast Starlight bus substitution....why?

Just got advice from Amtrak that our trip on Saturday 20th will now be LA Union Station to Bakersfield by bus, then train from Bakersfield to Emeryville, where we transfer to train 14 departing 21.41 hrs.
This is not good news for us as overseas visitors....we will not now see much coast whilst on the Coast Starlight!

Does anybody know why this change is being made??

Try this. Bus Amtrak connecting Los Angeles to Van Nuys. Train Van Nuys to San Luis Obispo. Bus Amtrak connector  SLO to Oakland or Emeryville. This way you can see all of the California coast that you would have missed. Buses should be able to meet train times.

well its may 19th and amtrak 11 seems to be operating as normal

Regardless of what someone else stated, the affected dates are 05/20 and 05/21. So it would affect 11(19) and 11(20) and 14(20) and 14(21)
