For one who does not usually take packaged tours, I found the Alaska RR tours to be quite good. Service is excellent! I last rode the ARR back in 1982.
Typical consist on the Anchorage-Fairbanks service is 2 diesels (SD70MACs?), 3 bilevel ARR cars, a low-level coach, a dome car, and a few cruise ship bilevels.
Anyone know what the heritage of ARR dome #522 is?

Alaska Car was a former Northern Pacific Dome

Amtrak had it a while before Alaska bought it
