Seems like a lot of mumbo jumbo to me.  Was the PTC down or was the CTC system down?
Why was the CN afraid to flag Metra trains through the diamonds where they are controlled by CN?

Did I read something, somewhere, sometime, about not having single points of failure in critical infrastructure?
Or was that a whiskey fueled dream ?

Technology issues affected the Union Pacific Northwest, Milwaukee North, North Central Service and
Heritage Corridor lines early Monday, the transit agency said.


Thousands of commuters were affected by service cancellations and delays Monday morning on the
Union Pacific Northwest, Milwaukee North, North Central Service and Heritage Corridor lines, a Metra spokesman said.


The disruption was caused by the Canadian National Railway’s positive train control system.
“Earlier this morning, an IT issue impacted CN’s train dispatching system in the U.S., including Metra and Amtrak trains.

It shut everything down, causing lengthy delays to 58/59 and the cancelation of 390 / 391 as I understand it.
