Passenger Trains > Weird Window WednesdayDate: 01/08/25 12:48 Weird Window Wednesday Author: march_hare Let's look through (or at least, look AT) some windows in Kansas City:
1). It's a dreary day outside, but if we pull back the drapes on the hotel window, we can see Amtrak's Southwest Chief making his station stop a block or so away. A good bit of the gloom is the result of filthy windows (on a pretty expensive hotel). 2). Now it's not only dreary, but raining. But the window on the pedestrian walkway is much cleaner, and we can see the KC Streetcar at the end of its run, near Union Station. 3). Once it stops raining, we can stroll around a bit outside, in search of a train or streetcar shot with that iconic Western Auto sign in the background. The windows on a nearby office building offer an oddball view. Date: 01/08/25 13:03 Re: Weird Window Wednesday Author: irhoghead march_hare Wrote:

The general manager of this hotel must be Stephen J. Gardner. Date: 01/08/25 15:50 Re: Weird Window Wednesday Author: march_hare Hadn't thought to check out whether Amtrak was managing the hotel. Dirty windows, bad room service, algae growing on the masonry around the indoor courtyard, hmmm.
But it was a memorably bad experience, except for the trains. Date: 01/08/25 16:38 Re: Weird Window Wednesday Author: WM_1109 march_hare Wrote:

Hey, somebody's gotta pay for the excellent view of the Western Auto landmark. /Ted Date: 01/08/25 16:42 Re: Weird Window Wednesday Author: march_hare I would gladly have contributed $2.75 (full retail at the local convenience store, no tax exemption) for a big bottle of Windex. But I was on the 11th or 12th floor.
At one point, I told the camera to focus on the window itself. Results attached. Disclosure: I may have posted this one previously. I've always enjoyed meals at Jack Stack's and Pierponts (in the station).

I took this one in 1995 from the Westin. B&O Bill Date: 01/09/25 16:36 Re: Weird Window Wednesday Author: march_hare kgrantly Wrote:
