Passenger Trains > Amtrak 79 Carolinian fire

Southbound 79, The Carolinian is currently stopped in Selma NC account of “Emergency Service Hold, Fire Department Activity”. What their report fails to tell you is the fire department activity is on board Amtrak Cafe Car # 43371. Train stopped due to fire in cafe. No word on how bad/extent of damage, but train has been stopped almost a hour now. Some local Facebook video shows no visible damage from the outside but fire fighters aboard.

No food service for this trip anymore, I'll bet.

Supposedly the cafe was repaired at Charlotte overnight and is operating normally today.
