New Acelas at Philly
Author: Chessie1963

The new Acelas sitting at Philly have been moved around, and importantly, there were crews there doing all sorts of things to them.  There were a number of vehicles on location, with folks on the ground.  One fellow went underneath one of the cars, checking things.  He popped back out and moved along.

There is progress.  I was surprised to see activity around these things as there has been none to date.  I am encouraged.

Wonder if they can keep them clean?  Hahahaha!

This is a very good sign for the Avelia equipment

Way back in October or so, there were rumors that service would begin
on March 30th, if I recall.  More recent updates in the news suggested
"Spring" as the date they would finally enter service.  Seems soon - lots
of recent test runs.

How many Avelia train sets are stored in Philadelphia or Upstate NY?  It seems like there are quite a few tucked in out of the way places like the WNY&P yard, etc.

It is a bit hard to tell as you roll by on the train.  However, it appears that there may be more there now than a couple of months ago, maybe a couple of train sets.  It was a pretty full area.

One of the sets that had been stored in Olean moved eastbound back to Hornell recently (I believe last week).  I do not know why but I assume that Alstom-Hornell wants to address any issues before delivery.
