Passenger Trains > Business class on CascadesDate: 04/14/25 14:50 Business class on Cascades Author: 8notch Hello all,
Can you please tell me the difference between business class on Horizon cars vs businees class on Amfleet cars. Since the Horizon cars are no longer being used on Cascade the route. Thanks in advance, Robert in Island City Oregon Date: 04/14/25 15:54 Re: Business class on Cascades Author: engineerinvirginia Probably similar...mainly a bit more legroom? A quiter car.....

It has 2-1 seating and the seats are comfortable with adequate legroom. Like all Amfleet cars the windows are smaller than I'd like but you can still get a decent view. It's quieter than coach and thus more relaxing (assuming there's no one yakking on a phone the entire time). Overall I think it's well worth the extra fare.

And right now, every additional seat of any kind helps on the now only three-car Amfleet Cascades. A lot of people are commenting on how much nicer the Amfleet cars are to ride in.

I have read and heard from others that Business Class is reserved but specific seats are not assigned. I have been told you sit wherever there is a vacant seat. I didn't say that the seats are reserved, you're just reserving a space. The system knows how many Business Class seats there are on the train and it restricts the number of reservations to that number. I wonder why Amtrak can't offer the same to its passengers. Decades ago in the early years of VIA operations the first class seating (called Club Car seats) were not specifically assigned, but it didn't take them too long to change their policy.
