That´s a great set of pictures taken in BH in 1979, before the government starts the metropolitan passenger train system - Metro. The BH yard changed a lot since then. All these blue trains were gone after the RFFSA privatization in 1996. In the pics, we can see the suburban trains to Betim, Raposos, Barreiro and also the night train to Vitoria, ES with the tuscan red cars of EFVM. There are also the trains to Bahia state and other far beyond. Also, the train to Angra dos Reis, RJ that used old Metropolitan Vickers electric locomotives, later surpassed by the GM G8s and G12s.
The Metro started in 1981 and fisnished the first section from Eldorado to Matadouro in 1986. In 1997, the second section started from Matadouro to Venda Nova, where it arrived in 2005. In 2022, the Metro was privatized and the new operator started the second line from Nova Suissa to Barreiro in 2024.
