Passenger Trains > FWIW:Another view of the Feds' withdrawal from Tx High Speed railDate: 04/16/25 01:18 FWIW:Another view of the Feds' withdrawal from Tx High Speed rail Author: GenePoon BREAKING NEWS! Fort Worth investment firm says Texas high-speed rail project is shovel ready as Amtrak involvement winds down
In a statement sent to Texas Rail Advocates, Kleinheinz Capital Partners of Fort Worth announced: “We are proud to have stepped in as the private sector sponsor of the Texas high-speed rail, and today’s announcement is good news for the overall project. The first Trump Administration gave this project the green light, but after President Trump left office the project got hung up in the politics of the Biden Administration’s efforts to jam Amtrak and politics into the equation. We agree with Secretary Duffy that this project should be led by the private sector, and we will be proud to take it forward. This project is shovel-ready and will create significant new jobs and economic growth for Texas as part of President Trump’s efforts to boost the U.S. economy.” Date: 04/16/25 02:34 Re: FWIW:Another view of the Feds' withdrawal from Tx High Speed Author: Chessie1963 Wow! That is fascinating. Basically, everyone says Amtrak is not the agency to do this.
Hard to disagree. They cannot even keep trains clean, stocked, and operating with full sets of equipment. How in the world could they ever do something this big? Date: 04/16/25 03:00 Re: FWIW:Another view of the Feds' withdrawal from Tx High Speed Author: DutchDragon Chessie1963 Wrote:

As far as I know high speed rail has never been built in the USA before. The closest is in California, but with everything I've read about that project it doesn't seem like a viable option. Brightline is a success story though the scope of the project in Texas is completely different than what was accomplished in Florida. Let's see who announces themselves as the principal investors and then maybe we can get excited. Any bets how soon that happens?

My understanding was that the only reason the Amtk was involved in this at all, was bc no one else wanted to invest. SO why would someone be saying that they were a shovel ready investor all along... Well.....This pvt concern apparently is not an investor at all, but the "private investment sponsor" Kind of like an investment consolidator? Noty someone who invests, but someone who promotes the investment? (with all sorts of pro-trump language) Seeing as Brightline west did well in getting pvt investment, maybe this will too. I guess well see. Date: 04/16/25 09:02 Re: FWIW:Another view of the Feds' withdrawal from Tx High Speed Author: kevink restricted_speed Wrote:

Do a little critical thinking and all the hoopla regarding Brightline West is within California, I-15 median, Rancho Cucamonga, LA Olympics, blah, blah. So people should be suspicious if same game is being played like CA HSR? |
