Passenger Trains > Norfolk VA Amtrak station parkingDate: 07/02/25 09:13 Norfolk VA Amtrak station parking Author: yooperfan Help is requested with paying for parking at the Norfolk VA station
Back in March, Amtrak (or the city of Norfolk ) took away the spacious, safe, paved, and free adjacent parking lot at the Amtrak station to allow the construction of a casino. They replaced it with a nearby, much smaller paved lot located in a gully under a highway overpass. And they now charge $10 per day. The parking is paid for through ParkMobile. Well, I am in the PM website and it says you can only pay for 24 hours in advance - kind of akward for anyone parking for a multi-day trip. Am I doing something wrong (besides thinking that anything to do with Amtrak is logical or easy)? Thank you for any advice. Many of the NJ Transit lots don't allow multi-day parking. I have to drive 3 stops from the closest station to home for multiple days. And as far as rules, rates and enforcement (ticket/tow), Parkmobile will tell you the municipality controls that. Of course light rail does not serve both. Michael Date: 07/02/25 13:21 Re: Norfolk VA Amtrak station parking Author: DutchDragon yooperfan Wrote:

That's assuming Amtrak owns the parking lot. Which they don't. (I did nothing different from earlier today). Might have been a software glitch. Or, possibly, does someone at Amtrak read TO?
Thank you all. Date: 07/02/25 15:29 Re: Norfolk VA Amtrak station parking - now resolved Author: PHall yooperfan Wrote:

The deal between Norfolk and the folks building the adjacent casino didn't set aside enough spots for the growing number of Amtrak passengers.
