Passenger Trains > Amtrak Board Meeting

Amtrak is having another public board meeting on 7-31 at 1230pm eastern time. Their public relations web site has a link where you can sign up to attend via zoom

I’m signed up and will be happy to post some things this forum might find informative

As a side note I reserved a seat on the new Mobile to New Orleans train for 8-26. I’ll be connecting to the City of New Orleans onto Chicago on that day. I’ll be posting findings on this trip as well.

We are promised an update on the Acela-2 situation.

(since there will be no public participation, or O&A,
it's strange they will let us watch on Zoom).

Seeing the glass half full and not trusting Amtrak management or this Administration I wouldn't be surprised if there are mutually agreed to strings attached to next years budget. It just seems to good to be true the Administration going from zeroing out the LD budget to fully funding it.  Could they be agreeing to drop 2-3 trains to keep the others fully funded? Have they found an "owner" to privatize some routes? Probably none of thee above but the impromptu Board meeting definitely has a strange feel to it.
