Project 430 — Ready For Harvest
Author: walstib

There's plenty of capacity for this year's wheat harvest at Ritzville's Templin Terminal, where I caught a tardy number 27 rolling by at 6:43 a.m. last Thursday.

The train was running about 1:43 down, and clearly missed the window for sunrise light.

Project 430 — which refers to the time I set my alarm to in the morning to get out trackside in time —  is my ongoing summer solstice project to capture number 27 around Ritzville at sunrise. The project began in May, and will continue until sometime in July.

Yes, they do tarp them later.

They will tarp the piles when there is going to constant unsettled weather.  A brief rain will make a crust on top of the piles to seal that pile in a sense.  If Templins does like Highline Grain growers, they will have a blower that blows air inside the pile when it is tarped.
