Project 430 — which refers to the time I set my alarm to in the morning to get out trackside in time — is my ongoing summer solstice project to capture number 27 around Ritzville at sunrise. The project began in May, and will continue until sometime in July. Date: 07/08/25 21:34 Re: Project 430 — Watercolor Skies Author: santafe199 Simply WOW!

Brian, You cease to amaze me with Project 430.. I applaud you for getting up at 430am to get Amtrak #27 going thru/near Ritzville. I have really enjoyed your posts in this series.. I can hear 27 go thru Cheney at around 405am or so if I am awake, usually going to the bathroom. I have also enjoyed the few pictures of 28 that you have got around the Pasco area. I wish I could get them on time at Finley or Hover with sun on the nose of 28.. SP8100 Date: 07/08/25 22:33 Re: Project 430 — Watercolor Skies Author: walstib I'm glad you're enjoying the project.
Getting nose light at Hover is no easy task. Here's a 2022 shot with a bit of nose light. I sort of remember getting another shot or two with more light in previous years, but none popped up in a quick search. My son Martin set me a recording the other day of a Stan Kenton composition that reminds me of this most recent photo. I's called 'Opus in Pastels.' Fitting, I think. -John Date: 07/09/25 10:27 Re: Project 430 — Watercolor Skies Author: swaool walstib Wrote:
