Passenger Trains > Some Maryland StationsDate: 07/29/25 05:42 Some Maryland Stations Author: bigmc83 This past weekend, my son and I partook in our annual father/son trip. This year's destination was Harper's Ferry, WV for some National Park touring, whitewater rafting, and some light railfanning. One night, we headed to Brunswick, MD for dinner at Boxcar Burgers (very good btw) and caught some trains by the Brunswick station. On the way home to PA, we stopped again briefly at Point of Rocks, MD and then ate lunch at normal hangout spot, Perryville. I didn't get any fantastic pictures, but I'll share what I have. A funny story about Point of Rocks: I've always been fascinated by that station as I have a small Danburry Mint sculpture of it that I "purchased" when I was a kid. Without my parents' permission, I saw the flyer card advertising it in a magazine. I filled it out, checked the "bill in 2 installments" box and happily mailed it in. My parents were not amused with that and I had a fair share of chores to do in order to pay off that purchase. I still have it to this day and my son was pretty surprised when I told him this was the real life station.
Photo 1: Brunswick, MD. Some trains came through but I did not have my phone/camera at the ready Photo 2: The historic Point of Rocks Station. Beautiful structure but could use some repairs Photo 3: The also historic Perryville Station. It was Sunday, so the Historical Society was manning it and the small museum inside. Another father/son pair was trackside as well Video 1 Below: We did catch an Northbound Amtrak train by Perryville. We are spoiled here on the NEC by the train speeds. If you listen closely, you'll hear my son's commentary "It's moving slow for an Amtrak train"....While, he's correct in that the train is accelerating coming off the bridge, I couldn't help but think how spoiled we are in the NEC. I'm sure plenty of others would be amazed if they saw an LD train going that fast. Thanks, Sean Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/29/25 05:44 by bigmc83.
