Passenger Trains > Open Door on #7

Yesterday (7/28/25), I photographed the WB Empire Builder sailing across the Hwy 20 bridge just north of the Sturetvant, WI station, on-time.   It wasn't until I looked at the photos today that I noted the train passed at track speed with an open door on the second to the last car.

I'm not stating who may or may not have opened or failed to close this particular door. With today's mindset of a huge portion of society I can easily believe it MAY have been a passenger. Can you imagine the crud On Board Employees have to put up with. It's almost understandable why some On Board employees have such a bad attitude. I would say IF Amtrak ever orders any new equipment the doors will at the very least have alarms that will notify crew if door is open during movement along with cameras in strategic positions.

I encountered an open door on three different occasions. The first was on 21. I went and told a crew member that the door was open. He came back and closed it. I knew how to close it, but I did not want to be in a situation where I was accused of opening it.

The second was on 5 out of Truckee. Again, I notified the SCA. She closed it and counted the passengers in her car. The third was on the Saluki out of Homewood on an Amcafe. I told the LSA, and she went and closed it.
