Today’s train has 240 passengers in which there are 160 sleeping car passengers and 80 coach passenger

There are 136 autos and 2 motorcycles

8 sleeping cars, 1 sleeper lounge car and 1 sleeper dining car


4 coaches and 1 diner for the coach passengers

There are 2 table seatings in the diners. 5pm seating and a 7pm seating

Train left Sanford on time at 4pm

We are currently stopped south of Jacksonville with a dead engine. HEP is working but the lead engine has stopped. Announcements were quick after we stopped letting passengers know what was happening

We were just delayed 15 minutes by the engine issue. We are on our way now. Hopefully no more issues….

I made a around trip on the Auto Train in early Sept.  Arrived in Sanford 30 min. Early and Lorton 1 hour Early.  Of course when the train arrives that early no one can get off until the station personnel start to work at 8:15 am.   Still better to wait on board than in the station.

Northbound 52 has been crossing the Ashland VA camera as early as 6.30 am lately. That is unusual.

Dinner tonight was top notch and the service made it even better. The waiters were so professional and brought extra bread refilled beverages and were most efficient

Without a doubt some of the best servers anywhere on Amtrak!

That's great to hear! The Auto Train "product" was always top notch and a step ahead of anything else that Amtrak operated. It seemed to have a little dip in service these past few years, but glad to hear this positive report. Really surprised that they are up to 8 sleepers already!!!
