Wired Wednesday: A few pix at Old Saybrook
Author: march_hare

Spent about an hour and a half this morning on the NEC at Old Saybrook, CT. My only previous railfanning here was long ago, watching F40s and E units fly by.

Kinda cloudy, but not too bad, just enough crud to make sun angles pretty much irrelevant. My primary interest was getting some CT Rail commuter trains, since I hadn't seem those in person up until today.  I hadn't realized that CT Rail was using electric MUs.  But I still managed to get one in "push mode" and meeting an Acela to boot.

Enjoy. I did.

Electric MU's?  Otherwise, interesting shots.

(The photo of the M8's did not appear when I asked my question.  Thanks for the answer)

Yeah, these guys. I had expected CT Rail to be all diesel powered. But it certainly makes sense to use electrics on a route that's already electrified.

Great shots ! The M8s that operate on CTRail's Shore line East have had the third rail shoes removed due to a clearence issue east of New Haven , M8s with their shoes on operate from New Haven to GCT . M8s can be seen from New London to GCT . Thanks for sharing these with us .

Thanks for these shots. That Old Saybrook station walkway is ceretainly beautiful.

Slightly OT: do locals say "see tee rail" or "see trail?" It can be interpreted both ways.
