Amtrak Test Train

A test train of Amtrak 316 an 313, with a couple Amfleet cafe cars and a Viewliner baggage car passed Porter Jct eastbound on the Amtrak Michigan line at 19:48 central time. Someone saw it at Battle Creek Eastbound. Not sure when it will return but I figured I would mention.

Do we have any indication of what they were testing?  When I first saw that subject line, I was hoping they might be looking at a possible new route.

Probably testing ITCS.

Maybe testing for 110mph operation east of Albion to Dearborn.

We tested the ITCS apparates on those locos...no speed testing was done on the Michigan Line....Amtrak is planning on installing ITCS on some of the ALC42s' to help out the P42 ITCS fleet ---mostly to see service on trains 21-22 and CHI-STL trains....but with how reliable the Chargers are in the winter, it's possible they could be put on a Michigan Service train occasionally
