Passenger Trains > Major NEC area delaysDate: 10/30/25 15:50 Major NEC area delays Author: Lackawanna484 Airports in the NYC area are facing three and four hour delays, yet Amtrak soldiers on with just spotty delays. Most trains are on or near time. Just two trains, both Acela are in the black.
High winds, thunderstorms, etc are wreaking havoc at Newark, LaGuardia, JFK, and Teterboro. Good for Amtrak and a balanced transportation system Posted from Android Date: 10/30/25 16:34 Re: Major NEC area delays Author: KurtBWNews The US networks showed video of water pouring into a NYC subway station.
I seem to recall Penn Station had some sort of super-duper flood doors against the possibility of flooding. IIRC, PRR tested them weekly, PC tested them semi-annually, and at some point Amtrak forgot to test them completely. This I understand, led to an ugly mess when superstorm Sandy hit town. NJ Transit 3719 had to shove towards Newark after the engine crew saw how much water was at Newark Airport. Things started to move after 4 pm. Andy |
