No train from Roanoke this evening
Author: twropr

Folks waiting for #66 must be wondering what's going on:
Itinerary Change: As of 12:30 PM ET, Due to train set unavailability, Train 66 is now canceled between Roanoke (RNK) and Washington (WAS). Alternate bus transportation will be provided. For questions, please text 268725. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.
Here's the rest of the story.  #151, which turns for #66, broke down at Clifton, VA.  P42 146 had a locked axle alarm.  Was it set off?  How will 151's equipment get back to Washington?

From radio conversations, it appears that P42 146 was set off in the yard atManassas, and that Crescent #20 towed 151's cars to Washington.

Train 66(3) originated in Washington, and they held the train for connecting bus passengers from the south.  Now on time from NYP.

Run like an airline. It is good that maintenance prone and tired locos don't fall from the sky.

And if a locked axle is verified it will have to be jacked up, the axle and traction motor removed and a dummy axle put in their place to ferry the unit to a shop..
