Passenger Trains > #3 delay at Newton 12/01/25Date: 12/01/25 06:35 #3 delay at Newton 12/01/25 Author: Cumbres #3 has been at Newton for several hours now. According to the train tracker it is"due to the crew conducting a train set adjustment".
I presume they set a car out. Anyone got better details? Cumbres Date: 12/01/25 06:40 Re: #3 delay at Newton 12/01/25 Author: Cumbres appears they just departed a little after 8:30

Date: 12/01/25 09:32 Re: #3 delay at Newton 12/01/25 Author: Cumbres I can't answer that but they appeared to lose more time at Hutchinson, KS where it appears that a crew change occurred. They lost an additional 75 minutes there it appears.

Close and lock end doors that will be exposed during the switch move. Close end gates. Drop HEP. Disconnect and secure hep and comm cables. Proceed with switch move, remember to properly set angle cocks and cut out cocks as you go along. Low floor cars are hard and dangerous to crawl under. Remember to properly secure the set out car. Reassemble the train. Lace up the air hoses, connect all the cables, unlock doors, stow end gates, set diaphragm curtains, restore hep, perform required air test, and always be polite to passengers who are mad, overly nosey, or trying to help while you are doing something you have done twice since you hired out. And it doesn't help to have only a single engineer running the train, so the Assistant Conductor must be called forward to occupy one locomotive while the sole engineer is, in turn, moving the other locomotive.
I witnessed this from the warm comfort of a Superliner economy bedroom about 15 years ago. Hakk Date: 12/02/25 13:46 Re: #3 delay at Newton 12/01/25 Author: longliveSP Pig-Mauler Wrote:

And that is all AFTER the time spent figuring out what the problem is, contacting a manager, contacting maintenance, going through remote troubleshooting, ...
