Great shot! These cars will be over 60 years old before they are replaced by the new trainsets in a few years. Over twice as old as the Heritage equipment Amtrak inherited from the private RRs in 1971.

I think it is great that Amtrak is refurbishing - hopefully more than just applying a new livery - the original Metroliner cab cars. The new livery kind of reminds me of the 1980s livery that these cab cars had on the Keystone Corridor dubbed at that time - the "Capitoliners." I sure hope Amtrak doesn't lose focus of maintaining these cars before the Airo train sets can prove themselves as reliable replacements. I fear that Amtrak will be coming up with new terminology other than "mechanical assessment" for the Airos...... But lets hope for the best. The Airos that will replace these Keystone corridor trains as pictured here will, I am afraid, be overly sensitive and complicated to do a relatively simple job...... Again, lets hope for the best and that the Amfleets and ex-Metroliner cab cars are carefully replaced as the Airos become reliable in service.......
