Passenger Trains > Amtrak Crescent from the holidaysDate: 01/05/26 16:03 Amtrak Crescent from the holidays Author: srman While visting family over the holidays down south caught a couple of the Crescent. Image one is the 29th as it rolled by Heflin Alabama and two is New Years day as it entered as it made its station stop in Birmingham Alabama.

I’ve just done a quickie round the country. Flew ATL to Chicago Train 3 to ABQ. 24 hours there. Engines 153+152. Train 3 ABQ - LAUPT engines 189+14. Train 2 LAUPT - NOLA engines 136+77 (77 is my fav)! Across to Mobile on 187+180 then 180+187 back to NOLA. And quick look at SS United States!! Train 20 NOLA - ATL engines 341+378. (Chat with the driver at BHM confirming the dislike of the Siemens shite). My first trip to Mobile and it’s very, very nice. A NOLA vibe . Doing pretty well, was into Birmingham 30 minutes hot, looks like we'll be in NOLa a bit early. Same basic consist as shown, but our version has a GE pug leading.

Date: 01/06/26 11:40 Re: Amtrak Crescent from the holidays Author: ctillnc Photo 2 gives a hint about the number of switches required for the Crescent to go from NS to CSX (where the station is) and back to NS. In the photo, the Crescent is on the ex-L&N double track main.
