If there is a 2nd a/c most likely they are posting (in training). Some NEC trains have a regular 2nd a/c if the consist is over a certain number of revenue cars (7?) Or is a constantly busy train.

Author: mvrr10 Understood you got a second AC over seven cars , Amtrak would designate trains that were longer (more than seven cars) to have the additional cars shown as deadheads and didn't count for the extra AC . Not sure if this still applies in the Corridor , handling a lot of traffic most days now . Crew Management probably prefers to not have a lot of "short crews" out there . Are there any Northeast Regional trains that operate with more than ONE OBS person , and they work end point to end point , ??

Short term gain for whatever Supt. was getting the bonus but long term shooting the company in the foot. |
